Another step you can take to get involved is to join the International Dark Sky Association yourself! I know that I would love to see some of my own tuition money put towards the U joining the IDA, and the more we get involved in the process individually the more likely the school will respond and get involved too!
Another way to get involved is to travel to some International Dark Sky Places that are right here in our own backyard. This is a great way to get back to nature, and to experience why it is so crucial to stop light pollution. This is an image of Capitol Reef, the most recent Dark Sky Park to be designated, and we are so lucky to have it be so close to us! You can make a big difference in the fight against light pollution just by switching to LED lighting in and around your own home! It is a great way to save money on lighting. It may seem more expensive at first, but in the long run for 50k hours, LED is less expensive than both CFL's and incandescent light bulbs.
