Our Team.

Courtney and Ashley started this website during their Honors Praxis Lab at the University of Utah. The ultimate goal of this website is to offer a chance for anyone and everyone to learn more about light pollution, and why it is harmful to the environment.

Courtney Hoyt

Courtney Hoyt is a current student at the University of Utah, pursuing a degree in Biology with an Honors Certificate, a minor in chemistry and a minor in French language. She will graduate in May 2015, and wishes to pursue a career in healthcare. Courtney is currently working in an Honors Praxis Lab collaborating with other students to help make the Salt Lake Valley more sustainable for future generations. Many different topics were introduced to Courtney during the Fall semester of 2014, but light pollution and the effects it has on an ecosystem made the largest impact on her. Now she is working with Ashley and others on campus to try and eradicate light pollution altogether.

Ashley Ikegami

Ashley Ikegami is a student attending the University of Utah.  She is currently a Junior studying Biology and Chemistry, and hopes to become accepted into the University of Utah Physician's Assistant program.  Through the U of U Honors college, Ashley is collaborating with a group of honors students in the Praxis Lab: "The Valley as a Laboratory," on projects that aim to increase awareness about sustainability and environmental health.  Her project focuses on educating the public on light pollution.
