The transitional fixture seems like a no go at this point. Ashley and I just don't feel like we have enough time to get the word out and make this transitional fixture. We also don't feel like we as science majors have the resources to design an aesthetically pleasing fixture that will look good sitting atop these ugly globes that are all around campus. We were discussing the matter with Professor Goldsmith and he had an awesome idea that someone should organize a design contest for the fixture to put on one of the globe lights. I think that it would be really awesome to have this happen, but I wouldn't even know where to begin to start it off. I think that the very first step would be having Mr. Bill Leach to agree to let us have just one of the globe fixtures (fat chance) to mess with and design a transitional fixture for. Then we would have to recruit interested people to start designing! I don't know if this is going to happen...

I really love this fixture, it is so old fashioned and awesome! If I could design a fixture it would probably look like this...
On another, happier note, Ashley and I have taken a new direction on providing information to everyone on campus!!! We have decided to make a website, which we will be able to add as much information on light pollution on campus that we could possibly imagine! We are very excited about this, because we both thought about how important it is to stay paperless and green. We are going to include all of the information about the harm that light pollution inflicts on the environment. We also want to include all of the information about what is being done around the world in regards to light pollution. The energy waste that is caused by light pollution will also be a subject of interest. We want to include all of the projects that are happening on campus AND all of the ones that are going on in Utah. It is important that everyone knows that a difference can be made close to home and that they can be a part of that! We will have a page that specifically addresses what YOU can do to get involved and participate in the fight against light pollution! WOOOOOOOO
